SixSecondScan analyzes your resume against a job description. This page explains exactly what we store, for how long, and who else handles it. The short version: we never store your resume file, we delete your resume text as soon as your report is ready, and reports delete themselves after 30 days.
What we collect
- Your resume. When you upload a file, we pull the text out of it and discard the file immediately. The file itself is never saved.
- The job description you paste in.
- Your email address, so we can send you your report.
- Your report: the analysis we generate.
- Payment details are entered on Stripe's checkout page and handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- Bundle accounts only: if you buy a scan bundle, you create an account (email and password, managed by AWS Cognito). We store your remaining scan credits and a record of each bundle purchase.
- Technical data: your IP address is used to prevent abuse (see below), and our servers keep operational logs.
How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Resume file | Never stored. Discarded as soon as the text is extracted |
| Resume text and job description | Deleted as soon as your report is generated. If you never complete payment, deleted after 48 hours. If your report fails to generate, kept for up to 48 hours so you can retry, then deleted |
| Your report (viewable at its link) | 30 days |
| Email address attached to a scan | Same as the scan: 48 hours if unpaid, 30 days if paid |
| Bundle accounts: resume text for "scan another job" | 15 minutes after your last scan |
| Bundle accounts: account, credit balance, purchase records | Until you ask us to delete your account |
| IP-based abuse counters | Up to 24 hours |
| Server logs (may include your email address and scan or account IDs) | 30 days |
| Payment records | Held by Stripe as required by financial regulations |
Deletion is automatic. Items are removed from our database once their period ends, typically within a day or two, and are unavailable to anyone, including you, from the moment the period ends. Your emailed PDF report is yours to keep. Deleting it from your inbox is up to you.
Who else handles your data
- Anthropic (Claude AI) receives your resume text and the job description to generate the analysis. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, this data is not used to train its models. Anthropic deletes it from its own systems within 30 days; if a request is flagged for violating their usage policy, they may keep it for up to 2 years. So while we delete your resume text as soon as your report is ready, Anthropic's copy can persist for up to 30 days after your scan.
- Amazon Web Services hosts the app and stores the data described above (US East region), sends report emails, and manages bundle accounts.
- Stripe processes payments.
We don't sell or rent your personal information, we don't use it for advertising, and we don't use analytics or advertising cookies.
Cookies
The only cookie we set is a sign-in cookie for bundle accounts, which expires after 24 hours or when you sign out. Stripe's checkout page sets its own cookies for fraud prevention. See Stripe's privacy policy.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to see, correct, or delete your personal information at any time, including deleting a report before its 30 days are up or closing a bundle account. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, or California), you may have additional rights under local law. We'll honor them. Email privacy@sixsecondscan.com and we'll respond within 30 days.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Report links use long random identifiers that can't be guessed, but anyone you share a report link with can open it until it expires.
Children
SixSecondScan is not intended for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
